About
Orval’s Organics Farm is located in Claremore, Oklahoma and sits on land that’s been in our family name for nearly a century. Originally purchased by our great grandfather Orval Willhoite in the 1930’s, this same piece of ground is where he reared cattle and raised a family. We pay homage to great grandad Orval and to those who came after him for safeguarding this hallowed ground, where we ultimately knew there was only one rightful name when launching this rendition of the farm in 2022 - Orval’s Organics.
We grow a wide variety of vegetable crops, raise grass-fed sheep, & tend to a flock of pasture-raised laying hens utilizing regenerative farming practices so that we can cultivate truly nourishing foods. All that is grown and raised on the farm is done so without the use of any chemicals - where the primary focus is generating living soil. Nutrient-dense & organically grown food is a guarantee when sourcing any of our foods.
It’s a true joy getting the opportunity to build lasting friendships with folks in our community who value connecting over food and the importance of local food systems.
Produce
All of our produce is grown without the use of any synthetic chemicals and we are committed to managing a living soil ecosystem so that we can grow nourishing vegetables that feed you and your family. All produce is grown on a 1/4-acre market garden and we integrate regenerative practices like minimal tillage, crop rotation, and deep composting to cultivate nutrient-dense produce and create rich farm biodiversity. Through our earnest approach to nurturing soil, we are able be in alignment with the farms mission - nourishing people.
Grass-Fed Lamb
We began integrating sheep into the farm ecosystem in 2024 with the intended purpose of producing high quality grass-fed lamb. Our sheep are raised on a purely grass-based diet and are never fed any grain throughout the course of their lives. The genetic line of our sheep comes from a nearly two-decade breeding program instituted by our great neighbors & friends here on 450 Rd. - Dorper, Katahdin, Royal White, & St. Croix are the primary breeds that have been selectively crossed throughout the years. All of these breeds are considered hair sheep (as opposed to wool sheep) and produce a mild lamb flavor. The implementation of rotational grazing is the primary management tool we use to ensure a healthy animal and robust pasture biodiversity. Our flock is relatively small at the moment, but we continue to grow in numbers year by year!
Laying hens were the most recent addition to the farm and these gals are raised on pasture & fed organic feed. Their custom-made mobile chicken coop is moved to new pasture all throughout the growing season where their able to roam around and hunt for bugs - making for great tasting eggs with a dark yolk!
